Juicing

Today I tried juicing. Usually I prefer to use a blender because it keeps the fiber in tact, but I've been having some tummy troubles over the weekend (we ate yummy, but hard to digest foods). So today I made my own concoction up. Here is the recipe:

¼ of a cabbage
3 large carrots
2 celery stocks
1 T. peeled ginger root
2 apples
2 oranges

Verdict? Well, I'm not going to lie, it was better than I thought it would be but still not exactly appetizing. This is not a juice for most beginners unless you are totally dedicated. I told myself I'd drink all of it no matter how gross it was. I tried some cabbage juice all by itself and it was tolerable  and sweet, but not super good. It was fine once I added the other ingredients, but the ginger is probably the part I liked the least. It probably would have been a pretty tasty juice without the ginger. But ginger is supposed to be good for your stomach. I don't mind the flavor of dried and ground ginger, but fresh ginger is just something else entirely!

Anyways, surprisingly I am feeling better. I'm considering doing a juice cleanse for a few days. The point isn't to lose weight (most of the weight you lose isn't fat, it's water) but it's supposed to give your digestive tract a rest without being as extreme as a water fast. It's probably not good for people who have low or high blood sugar, and it is supposed to be mostly vegetable juice instead of just fruit. I might try it and see how I feel. I'm still debating.

If you guys have any yummy juicing recipes to share I would love to try them. :)
